My Favorite Luxury Moisture Cream - Battle of the Creams

Battle of the Creams: The Search For The Best

So it's been a few months since testing a few luxury creams out for a spin and I'm here to give you my honest verdict on the products.  Between Dior Prestige, La Mer Soft Cream, Lancer Nourish, Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth Cream, and Givenchy
L'Intemporiel Global Youth Sumptuous.

And the winner to no surprise is: Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv.

And I know what you're going to say, you're biased because you work there.  And No, because to be honest I used to think luxury creams were a waste of money and that one couldn't see that much of a difference between them and the lower level creams in each brand.  And I was proven wrong in two ways, one: you most definitely see a difference (not just on your bank account, but the skin responds so well), and two: Re-Nutriv is so far advanced in the realm of treatment moisturizers and they seem to account for all areas of the sensorial experience.

Before I tell you why I love the cream, let me break down why I found the others to not become my new favorites.  Firstly a little about my skin and concerns.  I am 30 years old, male, and have normal to combination skin (dry cheeks, oilier forehead and redness prone).  I do not have a tendency to breakout or be reactive to skincare products.

1) La Mer Soft Cream
  • WHAT I LOVED: Lovely luxurious texture and scent.  Works well to moisturize the surface of the skin and overall keeps skin calm.  WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It made my skin feel shiny and slightly clogged up.  5 hours in, I was still shiny, and the type of shine where you can see your reflection, not just glow.  I have tried their matte products, but I mean if it's for moisture, why bother matte, don't we want the GLOW! I know I do.  But the soft cream shine was out of control on my skin.  Beyond that it was a solid cream, I did find on shaving days, it slightly burned over my freshly razored skin, and I feel like my skin seemed more red than usual with this, but that could just be all the shine.
    • I would use this again, but more of a night only.
2) Dior Prestige
  • WHAT I LOVED: Nice rich texture and lovely rose smell. Makes skin smooth to the touch. WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It feels heavy but within 3 hours, I need a spritz of rose water or something to keep my skin moisturized.   My skin felt smooth, but I feel like you can achieve that with silicones, because it was soft, but felt dehydrated.  I definitely feel like this cream was designed to be used as a system, but even with all of my layers, this just wasn't enough moisturizing enough. Goes to show you that just because it's thick, doesn't mean it's going to give long term moisture.  If this were a gel cream, this may make more of a difference. Dior please add a gel cream, that penetrates better and gives more comfort instantly and long-term.
3) Givenchy
  • WHAT I LOVED: Giving this away.  WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: I just really did not get on with this cream, it left my skin sticky and red.   I hate the texture.  Loved the sound of it.  Givenchy recently launched a newer version with a rosey coloring and called it a youth cream, that one is far superior to this one.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
4) Lancer Nourish
  • WHAT I LOVED: Everything, the texture smell and results.  WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: This cream doesn't have all the bells and whistles and just doesn't have enough bang for the buck.  But this was my second favorite and will definitely stay in rotation with my creams.  It's in my top 10 for sure.
5) Re-Nutriv
  • WHAT I LOVED: The smell, the technology, the results, the longterm moisture.  This is a cream that you can apply once a day and then for three days your skin feels great.  I love everything about this cream, I just wish I had enough money to always have it on hand, but one day.  WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:  No travel sizes, and that the jar is gold.  I liked the older silver color jar for Ultimate Lift, but that's aesthetic, that's just me.  Yet it's growing on me.

Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth Cream

Who is it good for?

Anyone with a normal to dry skin who loves luxurious textures and a good solid proper moisture cream.

Age Range?

40+ (only because of price, but anyone can use this, if you're breakout prone, you should be good, but use caution it does have shea butter and doesn't claim non-comedogenic, plus the texture is rich)

What makes it special?

The most advanced Re-Nutriv science is found here and it features extracts from two plants that survive and thrive in the world's harshest climates.  This is paired with the patented Ionic water, which creates a highly bio-available water that mimics nature's dew in it's purest form, infused with Calcium, Magnesium and Potassium & Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Technology.  The processing and science here are pretty amazing.

Estee Lauder thought of it all with this cream from how it smells, to how it feels, how it instantly makes your skin look, and sustained longterm moisture + repair.  You can tell this was a true labor of love.

When do I use it?

Nightly or when my skin needs a boost, but I love this texture, I alternate it in as often as I can.  It's a true luxury for me.
